Sweet Potato Green Chile Gratin

3 lbs. sweet potato or yams (or both mixed)
3 cups heavy cream
1 onion
1 can green chili's (fresh or canned, mild or hot)
2 cups cheddar cheese or any cheese you like
1 tsp. salt & 1 tsp. pepper
Directions:
Peel & thinly slice potatoes & onion.
Mix together add cream, salt & pepper.
Layer 1/2 of the Potato mixture in bottom of baking pan.
Layer w/ chili's & 1/2 the cheese, repeat.
Bake covered 350" for 1 hour then uncover & bake another 20 minutes until golden on top.
